These terms govern your use of meepleandmat.com, operated by Slate Mill Group. By using the site you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the site.

What this site is

Meeple & Mat is an independent publication about board games as gifts. It publishes editorial opinion, specifications compiled from game publishers’ own published figures, and live retail prices supplied by a third-party retailer.

It is provided for general information and as a buying opinion. It is not professional advice of any kind, and nothing on it is a guarantee that a particular person will enjoy a particular game.

What this site is not

• Not product testing. We have not played the games we write about and we say so on every page. Our figures come from each publisher’s own published specifications, as set out at how we pick.
• Not a retailer. Nothing is sold on this site. Every purchase happens on a third-party retailer’s site under their terms, and the price at that retailer’s checkout is the one that applies.
• Not a rating service. The gift-fit score on each game is an editorial judgment about how well a game suits being given as a present. It is not a rating of the game, not a test result, and is never published as structured rating data.
• Not age-appropriateness advice. Age bands on this site are the publisher’s own stated figures. Whether a specific game suits a specific child is a judgment for the adult buying it.

Accuracy

We take accuracy seriously and we publish our sources so you can check us. Even so, publishers revise their stated figures, games go out of print, editions change, and prices move constantly. We make no warranty that everything here is current or error-free at any given moment.

Always verify current specifications and prices with the manufacturer or retailer before you buy. If you find something wrong, tell us at info@meepleandmat.com - we correct confirmed errors within seven days and mark them on the page.

This site contains affiliate links. We earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. Full disclosure at affiliate disclosure.

We are not party to any transaction you make with a retailer. Questions about orders, delivery, returns, warranties or refunds go to the retailer, not to us.

Third-party sites

We link to game publishers’ own pages and to retailers. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Once you leave, their terms and privacy policies apply.

Intellectual property

The text, layout, editorial judgments and design of this site are ours. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only - their appearance here does not imply any endorsement of us by them, or of them by us beyond what we have written.

You are welcome to quote us with attribution and a link. Wholesale reproduction of our pages is not permitted.

Limitation of liability

This site is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Slate Mill Group is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or from reliance on anything published here - including purchasing decisions, work carried out on a building, or outcomes that differ from what a manufacturer’s specification led you to expect.

Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a volume that degrades it for others, or submit automated or abusive content through the contact form. The contact endpoint applies rate limiting for that reason.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page reflects the last change, and continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Slate Mill Group is established, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
