Privacy Policy

This policy covers meepleandmat.com, operated by Slate Mill Group. It is written in plain language on purpose - if anything here is unclear, email info@meepleandmat.com and we will explain it.

The short version

• We do not require an account and we do not have one to offer.
• We do not sell personal information.
• We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful, and it sets cookies.
• If you use the contact form, we receive what you typed in it and nothing else.
• Clicking a buy link sends you to a retailer with an affiliate tag, and from that point their privacy policy applies.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read, how they arrived, and which recommendations get acted on. This collects pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring source, and interactions such as clicking a buy button.

Google Analytics sets cookies. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on, by blocking cookies in your browser, or by using a browser or extension that blocks analytics scripts - and the site works normally either way.

The contact form

If you submit the form we receive your name, email address, the subject you chose and your message. We use those solely to reply, and the message is delivered to our own inbox by email.

Our contact endpoint also applies a short-lived, in-memory rate limit keyed on the requesting IP address, to stop automated submissions. That is not stored beyond the hour it covers and is not used for anything else.

Server logs

This site is hosted on Vercel, whose infrastructure keeps standard request logs, including IP addresses, as part of operating the service. We do not maintain our own separate log of visitors.

What we do not collect

• Accounts, passwords or profiles - there are none to create
• Payment information - no transaction happens on this site
• Newsletter signups - we do not run one
• Any special category of personal data. In particular, we do not ask about or record anything relating to health, and we do not want you to send us health information through the contact form.

Affiliate links

Buy buttons on this site pass through /go/<product> on our own domain and then redirect to a retailer with our affiliate tag attached. Two things follow from that.

First, we record the click in our analytics so we can see which recommendations are useful. Second, the retailer will typically set its own cookie so that a purchase can be attributed to us. Once you have left this site, the retailer’s own privacy policy governs what happens - we do not receive your name, your address, your payment details, or a record of what you bought. We receive aggregate commission reporting only.

Cookies

• Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, as described above.
• Retailer cookies set after you leave, by the retailer, for affiliate attribution.

We set no advertising cookies of our own, and we do not run display advertising.

• Microsoft (Graph) - delivery of contact form messages to our inbox
• Amazon - the retailer our buy links point to, and the source of the live price data shown on the site

Your choices

• Block or clear cookies in your browser at any time
• Use Google’s opt-out add-on to exclude yourself from Analytics
• Do not use the contact form if you would rather we held nothing
• Email us to ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to delete a message you sent - we will do it

Children

This site is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us something through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be described rather than quietly edited in - the same standard we apply to corrections under our editorial policy.
